Checkpoint: Rudolfinum
The building, sometimes called the House of Artists, was built by Česká spořitelna.
The grand opening took place on February 7, 1885. The new art stand was named after the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Rudolf, to commemorate another member of the Habsburg family, Emperor Rudolf II, who was a great lover of art.
Today, this monumental Neo-Renaissance building is a center of musical and fine arts. It is the seat of the Czech Philharmonic. Concerts are held in Dvořák Hall - among others the most famous music festival Prague Spring. The Rudolfinum Gallery has exhibition halls here and also the Artpark, a space where it presents educational programs for children and adults.
There is also a café in the building - Café Rudolfinum, a newly renovated space connecting music, art and gastronomy.
